Mastercard introduces Mastercard Wallet Pay to expand digital wallets worldwide
Digital wallets have grown into multi-service platforms used by more than 4.3 billion people worldwide. That number is expected to exceed 6 billion by 2030. To support this growth, Mastercard has launched Mastercard Wallet Pay, a global portfolio of solutions that connects digital wallets across contactless payments, QR codes, and online transactions.
Using Mastercard's payment technology and global acceptance network, Wallet Pay helps wallet providers offer convenient services for everyday purchases and cross-border transfers. The solutions support the needs of consumers and businesses as digital payments continue to expand.
Mastercard is working with major digital payment providers, including Alipay+, the global wallet gateway from Ant International. Alipay+ supports partner wallets such as AlipayHK, Clip, GCash, KakaoPay, TNG eWallet, and TrueMoney. Other participating providers include Axian, CRED, DaviPlata, Mercado Pago, MTN, and TenPay Global.
These partnerships give more people access to financial services and allow wallet users to pay at hundreds of millions of locations and online payment points worldwide. As a result, consumers and businesses in more markets can take part in the digital economy.
Wallet Pay also strengthens Mastercard's support for stored-value digital wallets across its payments network. Wallet providers choose Mastercard for its broad acceptance and digital payment connections. Alipay+, which links more than 50 e-wallets and banking apps with over 10 national payment systems worldwide, helps its partners connect with Mastercard Wallet Pay at scale.
A portfolio designed for digital wallet growth
With cloud-based payment technology and Mastercard's global acceptance network, wallet providers can add new services without making major changes to their existing systems.
Wallet Pay supports several use cases, including travelers connecting cards to local wallets, businesses sending money, and consumers gaining access to financial services for the first time.
"Wallets are gateways to the digital economy and launchpads for broader financial services," said Jorn Lambert, chief product officer at Mastercard. "Through our Wallet Pay solutions, we're helping payment providers improve the interoperability and user experience of their services, supported by the trust, reach, and convenience that people and businesses need."
