Pepperstone Names Caitlin Walsh Head of Corporate Affairs
Pepperstone has hired Caitlin Walsh as its new Head of Corporate Affairs. The Australia-based online broker added Walsh to its leadership team after her nine-year career at fintech company Block and its former brand, Square.
About the Appointment
Walsh shared the news on LinkedIn, saying she had joined Pepperstone to lead its corporate affairs team. She described the broker as one of Australia's leading fintech companies, with a global presence built over the past 15 years.
Pepperstone is headquartered in Melbourne and provides services to clients in more than 160 countries. Walsh also said she still has more to learn about trading, but the company's goal of giving retail and professional traders access to advanced trading tools and market opportunities attracted her to the role.
She thanked Pepperstone CEO Tamas Szabo, Andrew Housden, and Clara Crombie for the opportunity.
One of Walsh's first projects involves Pepperstone Crypto's partnership with the upcoming FourNTwenty Legends Game. The campaign supports prostate cancer research. Supporters can buy personalized virtual jumpers for AUD 25, with proceeds going toward the fundraising effort.
Caitlin Walsh's Background
Before joining Pepperstone, Walsh was Head of Corporate & Policy Communications for Asia-Pacific at Block. In that position, she advised senior leaders on corporate communications, reputational risk, and public policy across the region.
Her work at Block included communications for the company's acquisition of Afterpay and messaging related to major organizational changes. She also worked with governments and regulators on payments policy.
Walsh previously spent more than four years at Square, where she established the company's communications and government relations operations in Australia. Her responsibilities included media relations, engagement with policymakers on payments reform, and communications support for CEO Jack Dorsey. She also helped Square build its presence in Australia's fintech sector.
Before moving into fintech, Walsh worked as Senior Media Adviser in the Office of the Premier of Victoria. She handled media strategy and communications for government programs covering technology, innovation, trade, and industry.
Earlier roles included communications and media positions at the Transport Accident Commission, the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, The Police Association Victoria, 3AW Radio, The Age, and Maurice Blackburn Lawyers.
