Rising Africa Trader Cup Opens Across 37 African Countries, Giving Traders an Equal Start and a Shot at Cash Prizes
EBC Financial Group launches a demo trading competition across Africa, offering a USD1,000 prize pool, 20 prize positions, and the same starting equity for every participant
CAPE TOWN, 3 AUGUST 2026 – A trading strategy can look promising on paper, but the real test comes when markets move. Using live capital to find out can be costly, especially when the approach has not been tested.
To give traders a safer and more engaging way to put their ideas into action, EBC Financial Group (EBC) has launched the Rising Africa Trader Cup. The month-long demo trading competition will run from 3 to 31 August 2026 and welcome eligible traders from 37 African countries. Participants will trade using virtual funds, allowing them to test strategies, manage risk and measure their performance without committing live capital. The competition offers a total prize pool of USD 1,000 across 20 prize positions.
Andria Phiniefs, Marketing Director at EBC Financial Group, said, “Trading skill develops through practice, discipline and a clear understanding of risk. The Rising Africa Trader Cup gives participants a practical way to test their strategies, learn from the results and refine their approach before trading with live capital. We want the competition to be exciting, but also useful. Participants should finish with a clearer view of how they trade, what worked in their approach and what they could improve.”
Open Across Africa, Built on Equal Terms
The competition is open to verified EBC clients in 37 African countries, including South Africa, Nigeria and Kenya. To register, each participant must create a new demo account from 3 August 2026 with equity of USD10,000 and no open positions. Each client may enter with only one account, and no additional deposits are permitted during the competition.
Rewarding Informed Decisions, Not Just Profit
The Rising Africa Trader Cup is designed as more than a competition for prizes. It gives participants a demo environment in which to test their strategies, review the results and make more informed trading decisions.
Rankings come down to return rate, calculated as profit divided by equity at registration and expressed as a percentage. As every eligible participant begins with the same USD10,000 in demo equity, performance can be compared on equal terms throughout the competition period.
Where two participants achieve the same return rate, the trader with the higher cumulative closed trading volume will receive the higher ranking.
EBC has allocated a total prize pool of USD1,000, including USD 300 for the first-place winner. Cash prizes are available across 20 prize positions, not just the top three.
Cash prizes are awarded solely based on the competition’s ranking criteria. Participants are reminded that prize incentives should not influence their trading decisions, and all trading strategies should be based on careful risk assessment. To qualify for a prize, participants must finish the competition with a return rate above zero.
Experience EBC’s Institutional-Grade Trading Environment in a Simulated Setting
The Rising Africa Trader Cup gives participants a simulated setting to test their strategies using virtual funds, allowing them to explore their approach without putting their personal capital at risk. However, participants should note that trading leveraged products in a live environment carries substantial risk.
Traders can try different approaches, see how they perform as markets move and review the results without losing real money. It also gives participants a practical introduction to the trading environment before they decide whether they are ready to trade with live capital.
Behind EBC’s trading platform is institutional-grade infrastructure built to handle orders quickly and connect traders to deep liquidity. EBC connects directly to more than 25 top-tier liquidity venues through its professional HUB infrastructure and Smart Order Routing engine. The company’s published platform figures include more than 1,000 orders processed per second, an average execution speed of 20 milliseconds and 98.75% data-transmission stability.
These platform metrics are based on historical and simulated system performance under specific market conditions. They are for informational purposes only, do not constitute a guarantee of future execution speeds or fill rates, and may be affected by market volatility, liquidity, and system latency.
Supporting Better-Informed Trading Across Africa
The Rising Africa Trader Cup forms part of EBC’s wider focus on trading education, risk awareness and informed decision-making. By giving participants the same starting point and a full month to apply their ideas, the competition aims to encourage a more considered approach to trading across Africa.
