Key takeaways

  • XM credits $30 (or the currency equivalent) to eligible new clients who open a real account. No deposit is needed.
  • The bonus only activates after you pass the phone (SMS) and/or voice verification in the Members Area.
  • Profits you make while trading with the bonus can be withdrawn through XM's normal withdrawal process.
  • The $30 credit itself can never be withdrawn, and it can't be moved between live accounts on its own.
  • Every withdrawal removes the bonus in the same proportion. Take out 40% of your balance and you lose 40% of the bonus.
  • One bonus account per unique IP address, and family members or related parties of a participant are excluded.

What is the XM $30 no deposit bonus?

The XM $30 no deposit bonus is a promotional trading credit that XM adds to a brand-new real trading account. XM's own legal documents call it the "No Deposit Trading Bonus Scheme". You don't fund the account, you don't enter a card number, and you don't take on any of your own money to get started. Once the credit lands, you can open live trades on the same markets as a funded client: forex pairs, gold and other metals, indices, energies and, where your entity allows it, crypto CFDs.

The important distinction is between the credit and the profit. The $30 behaves like margin that XM lends you for trading. It sits in your account as credit, it absorbs losses, and it lets you open positions, but it never becomes cash you can take out. What you earn on top of it is yours, subject to the withdrawal rules explained further down.

XM is not the only broker running a deal like this, but it is one of the longest-standing. The broker has operated under the Trading Point group for well over a decade, and the no deposit offer has been part of its onboarding for new traders for years. That track record is the main reason the XM bonus attracts more searches than most competing offers.

Credit versus balance: why it matters

In MetaTrader 4 or 5 your account shows three numbers: balance, credit and equity. On day one your balance is $0, your credit is $30 and your equity is $30. If you close a trade with $8 profit, the balance becomes $8 while the credit stays at $30. That $8 is the part you can request as a withdrawal. Keeping this picture in mind makes every other rule on this page easier to follow.

Who is eligible for the XM $30 bonus?

XM keeps the eligibility rules short, but each one is enforced strictly. If any one of them fails, the bonus is either never credited or is removed later, sometimes along with the profits made from it.

1. You must be a new XM client

The scheme applies only to new clients, and the promotion can be redeemed once per eligible client. If you have held an XM account before, even years ago, expect the system to recognise you through your name, date of birth, documents or email.

2. You must be legally able to sign a contract

Only people who can form a legally binding contract under the laws of their country of residence may take part. In practice that means being an adult (18 in most countries, older in a few) and not otherwise restricted from opening a brokerage account.

3. One bonus account per unique IP address

XM allows one No Deposit Trading Bonus account per unique IP address. Multiple registrations from the same IP are not permitted, and neither are several bonus accounts registered with the same personal details. If your registration or trading data matches another participant's, including the IP address, XM can treat that as a reason for immediate disqualification.

Shared Wi-Fi warning. Students in hostels, flatmates and people working from co-working spaces often share one public IP. If someone else on the same network has already claimed the bonus, your claim can be flagged even though you are a different person. Register from your own connection.

4. No intermediaries or related parties

The terms exclude "Intermediaries/Related Parties". XM's definition is broad. It covers family members (brothers, sisters, spouses, parents, grandparents, children and other relatives) of another participant, and any person or company that controls, is controlled by, or shares common control with a participant. Put simply: one bonus per family, and no claiming through a company you run.

5. No one connected to XM or the promoting website

People associated with XM, or with the websites and social pages where XM runs the promotion, can't take part. This is a standard clause that stops staff, partners and their circles from farming promotional credit.

6. You need a verified real account

Demo accounts do not qualify. You need a fully validated real account, which means passing XM's identity checks (proof of identity and proof of address) and then the phone verification that activates the bonus.

Which countries and XM entities qualify?

XM is a group of companies, each regulated in a different jurisdiction. Which entity you are registered with decides which promotions you can see. XM states that it offers the no deposit scheme at its reasonable discretion, to the clients, countries and regions it chooses, and for as long as it decides to run it.

As a rule of thumb, bonuses are restricted under the stricter European and Australian regimes. Clients registered under the EU (CySEC) entity are generally not offered trading bonuses, and Investing.com's review notes that clients under XM's CySEC, ASIC and DFSA entities can't use the services that page promotes. Traders in much of Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Latin America are usually onboarded through XM's international entity, where the bonus is most often available.

Because XM can switch the offer on or off by country at any time, the only reliable test is your own Members Area. If the bonus is available to you, the claim option appears there after registration. If it isn't, no amount of re-registering will make it appear, and trying from a different country or VPN is exactly the kind of behaviour the abuse clause targets.

How to claim the XM $30 no deposit bonus

The whole process usually takes less than a day, and most of that time is XM reviewing your documents. Do the steps in this order; skipping ahead to the claim button before your account is validated just produces an error.

  1. Open a real trading account

Go to XM through the official registration link and choose "Open an Account". Enter your country of residence, email and a password, then confirm the link XM sends to your inbox. Pick MT4 or MT5; both support the bonus. A Micro account is the easiest for beginners because positions are smaller.

  2. Complete identity verification

In the Members Area, upload a proof of identity (passport, national ID card or driving licence) and a proof of address dated within the last few months (utility bill or bank statement). Make sure the name and address exactly match what you typed during registration.

  3. Verify your phone by SMS or voice

This is the step that unlocks the bonus. XM's terms say every eligible client must complete the phone number (SMS) and/or voice verification through the dedicated option in the Members Area. Enter your number, receive the one-time code and confirm it.

  4. Claim and wait up to 24 hours

Press the bonus claim button in the Members Area. XM says it can take up to 24 hours for the bonus to appear once you meet every condition. Log in to MetaTrader and look for $30 in the "Credit" field.

Phone verification is the trigger for the bonus. Without it, the $30 is never added. Illustration.

Claim window and activity requirements. Some XM regional pages and our earlier XM coverage mention a 30-day window to claim the bonus after registration and a minimum amount of trading before profits can be withdrawn. These details are not part of the UK scheme document and can differ by region, so read the bonus terms shown in your own Members Area before you trade.

XM $30 no deposit bonus terms and conditions, clause by clause

The table below summarises the official "No Deposit Trading Bonus Scheme" document in plain language. The scheme forms part of XM's wider Business Terms and Policies, so anything not covered here falls back on those general rules. If any translation of the terms differs from the English version, the English version wins.

You can read the source document yourself in the official XM No Deposit Trading Bonus terms (PDF). Note that the PDF is issued by XM's UK entity; the international entity publishes its own version with similar wording.

Withdrawal rules and proportional bonus removal

This is the rule that confuses most traders. XM doesn't make you choose between keeping the bonus and withdrawing profit. Instead, every withdrawal shrinks the bonus by the same percentage you take out of your available balance.

XM's own examples

The official terms give two worked examples, reproduced in the table below with the numbers unchanged.

ScenarioBonusDepositProfitAvailable balanceWithdrawalBonus removed
Bonus only$30—$100$100$40 (40%)$12 (40% of $30)
Bonus plus deposit$30$500$100$600$360 (60%)$18 (60% of $30)

Notice what happens in the first example. You turned $30 of credit into $100 of profit, withdrew $40, and still keep $18 of bonus plus $60 of balance to keep trading. Withdrawing all $100 would remove the full $30, which is fine if you are done with the account.

Tips for withdrawing profit without surprises

  • Close open trades first. If you withdraw while positions are open, losing part of the bonus reduces your free margin and can trigger a Stop Out. XM states it is not liable for positions closed this way.
  • Withdraw in one go when you're finished. Several small withdrawals chip away at the bonus each time; one larger withdrawal is cleaner if you plan to stop.
  • Use a verified method in your own name. Third-party payment accounts slow everything down and can raise compliance questions.
  • Check the fees for your method. XM generally doesn't charge for deposits and withdrawals, but bank wires under a certain amount can carry a fee, according to Investing.com's review.

Internal transfers between XM accounts

Many traders open a second XM account later, for example a Standard account after starting on Micro. If you move money between accounts, the bonus follows the money in proportion. Transfer 50% of the balance and 50% of the bonus moves with it. XM doesn't add any new bonus to the receiving account.

There's a catch. If the receiving account is a type that isn't eligible for trading bonuses, the share of bonus that leaves the sending account is simply cancelled. It doesn't arrive anywhere. You also can't transfer the bonus on its own; it only ever moves as a share of a balance transfer.

Abuse, arbitrage and inactivity clauses

What XM treats as abuse

XM reserves wide discretion here. Any indication or suspicion of arbitrage (including risk-free profiting), fraud, manipulation, cash-back arbitrage linked to a bonus, or trading patterns that suggest you only want the free credit and have no genuine interest in taking market risk can cancel everything: the bonus, the trades, and the profits or losses on the account.

Typical examples include opening opposite positions across two accounts (one at XM, one elsewhere) so that one side always wins, using several identities or VPNs to claim more than one bonus, and exploiting price-feed delays. In those cases XM can close or suspend all of your real accounts, cancel orders and annul profits.

What happens if you stop trading

If the account becomes inactive, all previously awarded bonuses are removed immediately. XM treats accounts with no trading activity for 90 days as dormant, and dormant accounts can also be charged a small monthly inactivity fee, as noted in Investing.com's XM review. If you claim the bonus, plan to use it.

Common mistakes that cost traders the bonus

Most lost bonuses come from avoidable slips rather than bad trading. Before you register, check this list.

How to trade a $30 bonus sensibly

Thirty dollars is a small account, and leverage makes it easy to lose in one bad trade. The aim with a no deposit bonus is to learn how live execution, spreads and margin feel with real money on the line, and ideally to bank a small profit along the way. A few habits make that far more likely.

Small size, a stop loss on every trade and a target at least twice the risk. Illustration only, not a trade recommendation.

Keep position size tiny

On a Micro account, 0.01 lot of a standard account equals one micro lot, and a one-pip move on EUR/USD is worth a fraction of a cent per micro lot. That gives you room to make mistakes without wiping out the $30. Risking 2–5% of equity per trade (roughly $0.60–$1.50) is a sensible ceiling.

Always use a stop loss

Because the bonus is credit, a losing streak eats it quickly and there's no deposit behind it. A stop loss on every position protects what's left, and it trains the habit you'll need once you trade your own money.

Stick to liquid, low-spread markets

Major pairs such as EUR/USD, GBP/USD and USD/JPY usually have the tightest spreads. Exotic pairs and some CFDs have wider spreads that cost a large slice of a $30 account just to open a trade.

Avoid trading through big news

Spreads can widen sharply around central bank decisions and major data releases. Check XM's economic calendar and stand aside during high-impact events while your account is this small.

Treat it as practice with consequences

Keep a short trading journal: why you entered, where your stop was, what happened. Whether you end up with $0 or $80, the record of what worked is the most valuable thing the bonus can give you.

Risk warning. CFDs are complex instruments and come with a high risk of losing money rapidly due to leverage. A large share of retail investor accounts lose money when trading CFDs. Even with a bonus, only trade if you understand how CFDs work.

About XM: is the broker behind the bonus trustworthy?

A bonus is only as good as the broker paying out the profits. XM belongs to the Trading Point group, which holds licences from several regulators. Investing.com's 2027 review lists group entities supervised by ASIC, CySEC, the DFSA, the FCA, the FSCA and the FSC, and scores XM highly for trust and safety, fees and customer support. Client money is held in segregated accounts, separate from the company's operating funds.

XM $30 no deposit bonus FAQ

Can I withdraw the XM $30 no deposit bonus itself?

No. The $30 is a trading credit that can only be used for trading. Profits made with it can be withdrawn under XM's normal withdrawal procedure.

How long does it take for the XM $30 bonus to be credited?

XM's terms say it can take up to 24 hours after you meet every condition, including phone (SMS) or voice verification.

What happens to the bonus when I withdraw profit?

The bonus is removed in the same proportion as your withdrawal. Withdrawing 40% of your available balance removes 40% of the bonus, which is $12 of a $30 bonus.

Can two people in the same house claim the XM no deposit bonus?

XM allows one no deposit bonus account per unique IP address and bars family members and related parties of a participant, so a second claim from the same household is likely to be disqualified.

Is the XM $30 no deposit bonus available in the EU or UK?

Availability depends on the XM entity you register with and your country. Clients of XM's EU and several other regulated entities are generally not offered bonuses, so check the offer in your own Members Area.

Do I lose the bonus if I stop trading?

Yes. If the account becomes inactive, all previously awarded trading bonuses are removed immediately. XM treats accounts with no activity for 90 days as dormant.

Ready to claim your $30?

Open a real XM account, verify your phone, and the bonus is credited within 24 hours.
